Since 2003, Iraq’s democratically elected governments have not been particularly successful when it comes to gender equality. The number of female ministers in previous governments regularly declined – even though there was a 25% quota set for female MPs. Will Iraq’s 2022 government grant women a greater share of positions in the next cabinet?
